University of the Cumberlands Professors Featured in Kentucky Book Fair

As a featured author at the Kentucky Book Fair, Associate Professor of English Nancy Jensen, will read from her book “Window: Stories and Essays” on Saturday, November 7 at 2:30 p.m.,in the Glass Room of the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort. Also featured at the fair is Dr. Robert Reising, Associate Professor of Education, whose book, “Chasing Moonlight: The True Story of Field of Dreams,” a biography of Dr. Archibald Wright “Moonlight” Graham, was coauthored with Mr. Brett Friedlander. UC presents “A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas”

University of the Cumberlands Theatre Arts program announces the opening of the fall show “A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas” on Thursday, November 5 in the Kohn Theatre of the Grace Crum Rollins Fine Arts Center on campus. Charles Dickens’ well-known tale will be brought to life with a 28-person cast from the campus and community.

Adams to perform senior recital

University of the Cumberlands music student Jared Adams is to perform his senior recital at 7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the Nell Moore Recital Hall of the Grace Crum Rollins Center on campus.

Adams, of London, is a student of Mr. James R. Corcoran, Jr. This recital is given in partial fulfillment for the Bachelor of Science degree in music performance.

The evening features a variety of percussion pieces including “Virginia Tate”, “A Cricket Sang And Set The Sun”, “Dream”, “Vertical River”, and “Temazcal”.

Patriot Soccer Cruises by Montreat College

Simpson Takes Home MSC Special Teams Player of the Week

The University of the Cumberlands (NAIA #6, 2-0, 0-0) football team defeated NCAA Mississippi College 55-26 this past Saturday. One key player in that game was sophomore running back/kick returner Chris Simpson (Stone Mountain, GA). For his outstanding efforts, the Mid-South Conference (MSC) announced today that Simpson earned this week’s Special Teams Player of the Week.   Keep reading →

Patriots Conquer Pikeville and Cumberland: Fall to Urbana and Robert Morris

This past week the University of the Cumberlands volleyball team competed against Pikeville College, Cumberland University, Urbana and Robert Morris. Splitting the four games, the Patriots went 2-2 on the week.

On Tuesday the Patriots hosted the Pikeville College Bears. Cumberlands battled it out in a four-set series and came out on top (25-18, 15-25, 15-18, 25-20). Senior Kaylyn Suttles (Cincinnati, OH) had a great appearance with a total of 23 defensive digs. Junior Amanda Hensley (Powell, TN) and freshman Mariah Gray (Goshen, OH) led the team with double-digit kills, earning 11 and 12 respectively.   Keep reading →

17th Annual Phyllis Richardson Wood Music Scholarship Benefit Concert at the University of the Cumberlands

The faculty and staff of the University of the Cumberlands Music Department will present the 17th annual Phyllis Richardson Wood Music Scholarship Benefit Concert on Tuesday, September 15. This music scholarship fund provides financial assistance each year to one or more students who major in music at University of the Cumberlands. The family of Phyllis Richardson Wood, long-time resident of Williamsburg, established the scholarship in her memory and in honor of her ardent support of the arts.     Keep reading →
