Further Still: A Collection of Poetry and Vignettes, ranks among the newest of books by Beth Moore. Published in April 2004, this book has a completely different feel compared to some of Moore’s more popular books. It provides not only a glimpse of Moore’s more creative side, but an image of the soul of a woman who has helped thousands of women across the country find a deeper love for their Savior.

Living Proof Ministries is a partner with LifeWay Christian Resources and has been influential as a ministry for 2 decades. Through the tender and compassionate yet fiery personality of Beth Moore, the head of LPM, the ministry continues to reach women all over the world through Bible studies, radio and television programs and books. Further Still moves away from the theological fire that is so evident in many of Moore’s other books and focuses on her personal experiences with her Savior.

This 145 page Broadman and Holman publication is divided into five sections; “moving on,” “childhood,” “shadow,” “fellowship,” “service” and “the road home.” Each section bears another aspect of personal experience of God.

The first section entitled moving on is a brief introduction of Moore’s ministry over the years. She details her expectations and God’s results, in a beautifully creative manor. This section is a window to the heart of a woman who has inspired so many and wants nothing more than to pour her whole heart into serving the Lord.

This book wraps up with a section called “the road home.” This section is comprised of poetry and short narrative. The passages in this section of the book are both about Moore’s personal life as well as her creative portrayal of biblical accounts. “The road home” continually proclaims the victorious works of God in the past and the great expectation of similar works in the future.

Perhaps my favorite section of this book is the one called “fellowship”. One account in particular captured my heart. This passage was called “Audience of One”. This is a personal recollection of time spent with God in a hotel room during a speaking engagement. I won’t give it all away, and spoil the fun. I will say, however, that it incorporates both dancing and room service.

While Further Still is a relatively new approach for Beth Moore, it is well worth the read. This book is appropriate both for public reading, as in church service, as well as personal reading in your own search for deeper spiritual love with your Heavenly Father. Beth Moore possesses a rare talent to tell of God not only like He is but the way we’ve all imagined Him to be but never been able to put down in words. Further Still illustrates this on a level not paralleled by any other of Beth Moore’s works.

I wholeheartedly recommend it for all those looking to find a life long love with the King of Heaven.
