Volunteers representing hundreds of churches from across the Knoxville area are helping to lay the foundation for the East Tennessee Franklin Graham Festival, scheduled for April 25-27 at the Thompson-Boling Arena, on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
“Everyone is invited to this event,” said Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the international Christian relief organization Samaritan’s Purse. “There are art festivals, music festivals and food festivals-why not have a festival for the soul?”
Each night of the three-day event at the Thompson-Boling Arena, Franklin Graham will present an encouraging message with the help of top musical guests and a choir comprised of hundreds of local volunteers from a variety of area churches. All seats to the event are free and tickets are not required. The festival includes a special Saturday morning “Xtreme Kidz-LIVE“ event for children and a Student Night youth event featuring Toby Mac (pictured below) on Saturday evening. The musical guests for Sunday afternoon include Michael W. Smith and Ricky Skaggs. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
The East Tennessee Franklin Graham Festival is a non-denominational effort organized through the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) and supported and planned by local leaders from a variety of churches throughout the region. Since 1989, Franklin Graham has held an average of six festivals a year as an evangelist for the BGEA.
