WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.-On May 12, 2004, University of the Cumberlands opened the doors of WCCR, 94.5 FM, its non-commercial, educational radio station located on the Williamsburg campus in the Grace Crum Rollins Fine Arts Building. WCCR is a student-operated station, advised by three members of the communication arts faculty. The station features a wide range of musical styles and programs including: Contemporary Christian, Gospel, Country, Classic Rock, Jazz and Modern Rock. During the regular school year, the station is on the air from 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
WCCR is low power, but it covers a 10-mile radius, which includes all of Williamsburg as well as parts of Jellico, Tenn. and Corbin, Ky. A person does not have to be a communication arts major in order to participate with WCCR. All UC students, faculty and staff are encouraged to become involved. Student manager Jennifer Belcher recently created a “Deejay Bios” page linked to the university’s official web site, www.ucumberlands.edu , where students and faculty talk about their programs and their experiences at WCCR.
For more information about WCCR, please contact Dr. Keith Semmel, WCCR’s General Manager, at 539-4494 or ksemmel@ucumberlands.edu
